Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand New Zealand Government Full time

About the Role
Are you looking for a leadership challenge that utilises your people management expertise?
We are seeking an experienced leader who can demonstrate day-to-day leadership principles, building team capability through coaching, mentoring and facilitation.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrable leadership skills, experience in coaching and mentoring others. You must be approachable, supportive and willing to help. Decisions will be made with your team members' wellbeing, capability and personal circumstances in mind. Calm and level-headed in stressful situations, you can have courageous conversations when required. Focused on a healthy and safe work environment, you establish and maintain relationships to achieve win-win outcomes. Working closely with your Chief Customs Officer, you will assist with the overall direction and leadership of the Detector Dog unit.
What's Involved
You will need to obtain a Confidential national security clearance. To achieve this, you must be a New Zealand citizen or a permanent resident who has resided in New Zealand, Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom or the United States continuously for the last 10 years. You must have a verifiable background history that can be assessed as appropriate by the New Zealand Security Intelligence Service towards a recommendation of suitability for security clearance at a higher level. Already having a Confidential clearance is a benefit but not a requirement. Due to the nature of Customs' work all candidates must have a clear Police record. Organisational Security clearances are mandatory and conducted by Customs before job offers are made. This role also requires passing a medical and drug test.
