Job Description

The Whakatāne District Council is seeking an experienced professional to fill the role of Team Leader Transport Operations. As a key member of our transportation team, you will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations to ensure the continuous provision of a safe and accessible transport system. Your expertise in civil engineering, project management, and leadership will be crucial in delivering corridor management, procurement, and management of road maintenance and renewal contracts.

In this role, you will oversee all network programming to meet safety and maintenance requirements, optimize resource efficiencies, customer needs, and financial constraints. You will also be responsible for procuring and developing physical works packages, including contract documentation in accordance with Council and NZTA policies and procedures.

A successful candidate will have a strong background in transport and local government, with at least 10 years' experience in civil engineering works, preferably in roading/transport and local government. They will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with diverse stakeholders.
