Job Description

The role of a Transport Planner at Whakatāne District Council involves developing projects and policies that align with the Council's strategic goals. This includes providing senior engineering input to ensure a safe and accessible transport system for the community.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development of business cases, project conception, and policy development. They will also be expected to identify, develop, and evaluate projects that improve the safety, accessibility, and resilience of the transport system.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and promote sound solutions to transportation issues.
  • Lead the development of business cases and project development.
  • Confirm strategic purpose and develop concepts, optioneering, and evaluation.
  • Undertake economic assessment of transport investment decisions.
About You

You are an experienced engineering professional with a strong background in transport and local government. You excel at Transport Planning, Project Conception, and Business Case Development. Your attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities ensures a safe and efficient transport system for the community.

Ideal Candidate
  • Bachelor of Engineering Civil or NZ Diploma in Engineering Civil.
  • Minimum 8 years' experience in civil engineering works, preferably in transport planning.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and excellent time management.
