About the Role

A challenging and rewarding opportunity has arisen for a skilled Clinical Psychologist to join our dynamic Child Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) team in Taranaki. As part of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality assessment, diagnosis, and treatment services to children and young people with mental health issues.

This fixed-term role until August 2025 offers an excellent chance to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children and families in our community. You will work closely with a passionate team of healthcare professionals who are dedicated to delivering comprehensive care to patients.

As a Clinical Psychologist with a current New Zealand Practicing Certificate, you will bring your expertise and passion for mental health to this vital role. Your exceptional interpersonal communication skills, experience in neuropsychological assessments, and confidence in working with diverse populations will enable you to provide client-centred care and support to individuals and their whanau.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake comprehensive assessments, formulate goals, and develop treatment plans in collaboration with children, young people, and their families.
  • Provide evidence-based therapies and strategies to promote mental wellbeing and resilience.
  • Cultivate effective relationships with Paediatricians, inpatient facility staff, and Non-Government Organisations to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Offer Psychology consultancy and support to the wider team, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous learning.

About You

  • Current New Zealand Practicing Certificate as a Clinical Psychologist.
  • Strong passion for Mental Health Addictions and commitment to delivering culturally safe and appropriate practice.
  • Proven experience in undertaking neuropsychological assessments and interpretation, with a focus on improving patient outcomes.
  • Desirable: Experience within specialist Child Adolescent Mental Health, flexibility to work autonomously, and ability to apply the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi in practice.
