About the Role
The Auckland Council's System and Insights team is seeking a Senior Stormwater Specialist to play a key role in advancing our stormwater management. This position involves working at the forefront of addressing flooding, enhancing flood resilience, and improving water quality.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience in data systems, modelling, hydrology and water quality, with a passion for achieving positive outcomes for the community. Some key responsibilities include:
- Developing and enhancing existing systems and processes to improve stormwater data utility and information publication across Auckland Council stakeholders.
- Advancing and improving reporting of extreme events to enhance preparedness for unforeseen weather-related challenges.
- Utilising hydrological and water quality databases and analytical tools for effective stormwater resource management, ensuring accurate and efficient data analysis.
- Developing and investigating machine learning and artificial intelligence systems to analyse and predict stormwater-related effects.
- Assisting in the development of a remote sensing camera network to enhance stormwater monitoring capabilities.
About You
You are a leader in Environmental Engineering/Science, with a strong blend of technical knowledge, leadership, and collaborative skills. We require a minimum of 7 years' relevant work experience in Environmental Engineering/Science, with 4 of those years in the stormwater industry or related field.
