About the Role

We invite a Principal Planner with 15+ years of relevant experience to join our Nelson office.

This role will appeal to those with a strong profile in the planning market in the upper South Island, a keen eye for opportunity, and an interest in developing and growing teams.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Working on infrastructure upgrade projects in Richmond, flood protection projects in Golden Bay, bio-solids disposal on Rabbit Island, and infrastructure strategy in Motueka.
  2. Participating in projects that build resilience into New Zealand’s Rail network, water allocation policy discussions, and planning efforts to build back a better Kaikōura following the 2016 earthquake.
  3. Providing expert witness services and undertaking peer reviews.
  4. Mentoring less experienced members of the team.
Requirements

We want team players who are adaptable, optimistic, and have top-notch communication skills.

A comprehensive understanding of the RMA, regional, and district planning is essential.

You will have the appropriate Resource Management qualifications and be a member of the NZPI.

Additional requirements include:

  • 15+ years of demonstratable New Zealand and/or international experience.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification.
  • Membership of a Professional Institute.
  • A proven track record in business development and building and sustaining long-term relationships.
  • Experience in a commercial environment.
  • Connections within the upper South Island planning market.
