About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced employment lawyer to join our team as an in-house counsel for employee relations. This is an exciting opportunity to provide expert legal advice and support to our employees and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert legal advice and support to senior leaders, HR teams, and unions on employment-related matters.
  • Represent the organisation in employment disputes, mediations, and Employment Relations Authority proceedings.
  • Manage legal risks related to employment processes, personal grievances, and workplace investigations.
  • Cultivate collaborative relationships with union organisers and delegates to maintain constructive engagement.
Requirements
  • 2-4 years post-qualification experience (PQE) as an employment lawyer with a current New Zealand practicing certificate or the ability to obtain one.
  • Excellent understanding of employment-related legislation and its application in operational environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide clear and concise advice.
  • Calm under pressure and adaptable, with excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
