Patient Safety Specialist

About the Role
The Patient Safety Specialist will play a crucial role in promoting a safe and healthy work environment at Homes. This involves implementing the national Moving and Handling Policy within the district, developing a risk-based programme plan, and educating staff on safe moving and handling practices.
Key responsibilities include:
- Implementing the national Moving and Handling Policy within the district
- Developing and implementing a risk-based programme plan for Moving and Handling across the district
- Educating staff on appropriate and safe moving and handling practices
- Working with nurse educators and coaches to support department-based training and ensuring staff meet competencies
- Providing consultation and advice on moving and handling hazards and problem-solving controls
About You
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A registered health professional qualification in New Zealand with a current practicing certificate
- Experience in occupational health and safety practice, as well as knowledge of injury prevention, moving and handling principles, and education and health risk management principles
- An understanding of moving and handling techniques and skills in clinical and non-clinical environments
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, with strong work organisation and prioritisation skills
- Experience in project implementation with demonstrated positive results and outcomes
