About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Counsellor/Psychotherapist to join our Refugee Trauma Recovery team. The successful candidate will work with former refugees who have experienced trauma and provide them with culturally appropriate therapeutic interventions.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assess clients' eligibility and needs, and provide clinical and emotional support
  • Coordinate care and make referrals to relevant agencies
  • Advocate for client access to services and promote self-care and mental health support within refugee communities

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Counselling or a related field
  • Registration with the New Zealand Association of Counsellors or another approved professional body
  • Extensive experience working with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Cross-cultural communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients
