Job Title: Treaty Relationships Advice Manager

We are seeking an experienced professional to join our team as a Treaty Relationships Advice Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the advice, coordination, planning, and reporting to support nationally led iwi relationships.

The Department of Conservation (DOC) is a government agency responsible for protecting and conserving New Zealand's natural heritage. We work in partnership with iwi and tangata whenua to achieve our goals, and we are committed to upholding the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the advice, coordination, planning, and reporting to support nationally led iwi relationships.
  • Work closely with Senior Managers, Treaty Partner Engagement, and People leadership to ensure effective communication and relationship management.
  • Provide expert advice on the Maori Crown relationship and DOC's obligations under the Treaty of Waitangi.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of current Maori views and awareness of differences between Maori and non-Maori world views.
  • Liaise with iwi and tangata whenua to ensure that DOC's work programmes align with their priorities and interests.
