**Job Overview**

The Department of Conservation Te Papa Atawhai is seeking a Treaty Relationships Advice Manager to lead the advice, coordination, planning and reporting to support nationally led iwi relationships. This role will focus on the Ngai Tahu relationship and provide general advice and some support for other Treaty Partner relationships.

As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for leading the work programme, managing multiple projects, and developing strong relationships with senior managers, iwi and tangata whenua. You will bring a deep understanding of the impact DOC and the wider public sector/government has on the Maori Crown relationship and the obligations of the Crown under the Treaty of Waitangi.

  • Lead the development and implementation of strategies to support nationally led iwi relationships
  • Provide expert advice on Maori Crown relationships and treaty obligations
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with senior managers, iwi and tangata whenua

We are looking for someone who enjoys the challenge of keeping across multiple work programmes and looking for win-win opportunities for DOC and Treaty Partners. You will have outstanding communication and relationship management skills, including experience working with senior managers, iwi and tangata whenua. A sound understanding of te ao Maori, tikanga and te reo is essential to enable you to engage and work in partnership with iwi and tangata whenua.
