The Information and Communication Technology Group (ICT) provides a wide range of ICT planning, implementation, operation and support services as a shared service to the KiwiRail Group.
Role OverviewThis role involves leading a team of ICT project managers to ensure best practice in project governance, execution and delivery across KiwiRail Freight. You'll work cross-functionally to foster a culture of excellence and adaptability, thereby ensuring efficient resource allocation and risk management to deliver high-impact initiatives on time and within scope.
ResponsibilitiesThis role requires:
- Developing, implementing and continuously refining project management standards, methodologies and tools
- Creating and delivering training programmes, workshops and certification opportunities (PMP and PRINCE2)
- Establishing a project management community of practice
- Acting as primary administrator for project management software
- Performing regular quality assurance audits, focusing on behaviour adherence to best practice
- Developing and managing a repository to capture insights and lessons learned
You'll have ten plus years of experience in project management with at least five years in a leadership role within a PMO or similar function. You'll also bring to this role:
- Proven experience in establishing a PMO, developing project governance frameworks and driving project delivery excellence
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication and negotiation abilities
- Demonstrated success in project portfolio management, budgeting and resource optimisation
- A deep knowledge of project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid) and tools (ideally JIRA)
Your ability to lead and mentor a team within a fast-paced, diverse workplace and manage competing priorities, while making robust decisions, will ensure your success in this high-demand role.
