About Us

Tangram is a major provider of community, vocational and residential-based intellectual disability, mental health and addiction services across New Zealand. Our team of passionate staff provides support to individuals to achieve their goals.

We are seeking a Community Support Worker to work across our intellectual disability/mental health services in the wider Wellington area.

The Role

We are looking for someone who is client-focused, easily adaptable to a dynamic environment, understanding, observant and non-judgmental. This is a demanding position where you will need to be flexible as you will be on a rotating roster, which means your shifts could change from day, evening, weekend, sleepovers and awake nights.

This position requires you to work at various intellectual disability/mental health and youth services. If you enjoy a diverse work week and constant change, this job could be ideal for you. Due to the different shifts and locations involved, the pay is $30.47 per hour.

Please note that this role can be quite demanding, so only apply if you're comfortable with variation and can be flexible with your schedule. No specific qualifications are needed.

Your days may vary, but will consist of:

  • Engaging with clients
  • Setting and achieving individual personal goals
  • Supporting them with activities of daily living
  • Ensuring support with medication and considering client needs
  • Supporting clients with personal hygiene
  • Activities within the community
  • Supporting social and whanau connection
  • Motivating clients to know they have a purpose
  • Ensuring client processes are accurately documented
  • Most importantly, supporting them to have fun and live fulfilling lives

This is a full-time permanent position of 80 hours per fortnight. We operate 24/7, work hours will include day, evening, weekend, awake night and sleepover shifts.

Desired Skills and Experience

No qualifications are needed; however, you will be encouraged and supported to work towards a Health & Wellbeing Certificate Level 4. You will inspire, encourage, and be a role model, plus have excellent interpersonal skills and a 'can do' attitude.

Requirements
  • A full driver's licence, as you will be expected to drive clients when needed
  • Computer skills are essential
  • If on a work visa, this must be valid for at least twelve months

Training provided to obtain your Health & Wellbeing Level 4 Certificate.
