About the RoleAre you seeking an opportunity that values your social work experience while maintaining your work-life balance? We are looking for an experienced social worker skilled in providing support to patients and their whānau/family to identify and enhance their ability and capacity to address and manage challenging situations. Reporting to the Clinical Social Work Manager, this role will see you working across all departments ensuring that Social Work practices and support is integrated effectively. You will utilise professional Social Work clinical skills to undertake assessment, analysis and provide a wide range of interventions that uphold tino rangatiratanga and mana of patients and their whānau/family.

As part of the requirement of this role, there may be some weekend work and occasional evenings work until 7.30pm.

Our Whanganui Social Work department is a dynamic, compassionate, and dedicated team that plays a vital role within the clinical multi-disciplinary team (MDT) at Te Whatu Ora. We work closely with patients and their whānau/families to provide holistic, person-centred Social Work support across a wide range of services. About YouOur ideal candidate will have:
- Registration with the NZ Social Worker's Board.
- A minimum of 5 years' social work experience.
- A good knowledge of our community and the resources within it.
- Strong interest in and compassion for the lives and experiences of others.
- Ability to remain calm in a crisis situation.
- Passionate and dynamic advocate for the social work profession.
- Commitment to the Te Tiriti o Waitangi/Treaty of Waitangi and Whānau Ora principles.
