The pay for this position begins at $26.50 per hour with overtime paid at time and a half after 40 hours. Our competitive weekly pay structure ensures you earn what you deserve.

Job Description

As a Class B P&D Driver, you are responsible for transporting freight between our Service Centers and customers in a productive, safe and claims-free manner. Your duties include performing pre and post trip inspections on the tractor and trailer, properly documenting freight control processes and reading maps, road signs, shipping papers, hazardous materials markings and labeling identifications.

Responsibilities

  • Transport freight between Service Centers and customers safely and efficiently.
  • Perform pre and post trip inspections on the tractor and trailer to ensure all equipment is in good working order.
  • Properly document all freight control processes to ensure accurate tracking and delivery.
  • Read and understand maps, road signs, shipping papers, hazardous materials markings and labeling identifications to navigate routes effectively.
  • Affix correct placards to tractor/trailer when necessary.
  • Maintain cleanliness of company vehicle.
  • Assist customers in preparation of shipping papers.
  • Interact and converse with external/internal customers.
  • Safely operate a forklift to unload/load products when indicated and needed.
  • Participate in Dayton Freight's training and improvement programs.
  • Be available for irregular work schedules, alternating work shifts and/or assignments.
  • Adhere to the operational procedures and guidelines contained in the Dayton Freight Driver/Dockworker Manual.

Qualifications

  • At least 22 years of age.
  • At least 1 year of commercial driving experience.
  • Valid Class B CDL with Hazardous Materials and Tank Endorsements.
  • Valid DOT Physical/Medical Card.
  • No DUI, Citation/Conviction for Reckless Operation in the past 3 years.
  • Less than 2 moving violations in the past 3 years.
  • BASIC math skills.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Able to pass a drug screen.
