About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled General Medicine Registrar to join our team at Nelson Hospital. As a General Medicine Registrar, you will be responsible for managing inpatient and outpatient care, including ward rounds, patient assessments, and clinical documentation. You will also participate in educational sessions, clinical meetings, and quality improvement initiatives within the department.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality patient care under the supervision of senior physicians.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans for patients with complex medical conditions.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of new clinical practices.
  • Support and supervise house officers, providing guidance and teaching where needed.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, ensuring continuity of care and adherence to clinical standards.

Requirements:

  • Eligible for an Annual Practising Certificate and General scope of practice with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
  • PGY3 or above with prior experience in General Medicine preferred.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining a collaborative team approach.
  • Strong clinical reasoning, time management, and communication skills.
  • Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
  • Experience in projects/initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
