Ophthalmology Technician, Nelson Hospital, Permanent Part-time

About the Role

As an Ophthalmology Technician, you will provide critical support and follow-up services to out-patient clinics, freeing up our Ophthalmologists to focus on providing further procedures. You will have experience performing visual field tests, vision tests, biometry, topography, eidon, OCT, and other tests.

About the Team/Service/Location

The Ophthalmology Departments at both sites (Nelson hospital and Wairau hospital) are contemporary services based on a team of Ophthalmologists who have general and subspecialist training, specialist nurses, orthoptists, optometrists, and technicians. There is a comprehensive suite of equipment including OCT, Fields, Photography, and Lasers.

About You

As an Ophthalmology Technician, you will have:

  • Previous experience as a technician within Ophthalmology.
  • Knowledge and care of specialized equipment required.
  • Competency in performing OCT, Visual field tests, eidon, vision tests, and Retinal Field Examinations.
  • Understanding and experience working with clients with visual impairment.
