Role Overview

The Advanced Clinician - Occupational Therapist plays a crucial role in the adult inpatient Occupational Therapy acute teams at Te Whatu Ora – Waitematā. As an experienced professional, you will be responsible for providing day-to-day clinical expertise and leadership support to the Occupational Therapy team and wider interdisciplinary team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and driven individual to join our acute inpatient Occupational Therapy team. The successful candidate will have advanced knowledge and clinical practice within and across the patient pathway of the specialist area of Acute Care in the Medicine and Health of Older Peoples division.

The Advanced Clinician - Occupational Therapist will be responsible for leading quality projects, developing and updating policies in areas such as cognition, neurology, and pressure injury management. You will also provide and role model advanced assessment and intervention skills that focus on patient-centred goals.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly organised individual who can maintain a complex caseload to a high standard. You will have experience in leading innovation and quality improvement, research, and audit contribution. Additionally, you should have a strong ability to communicate with local and national key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide day-to-day clinical expertise and leadership support to the Occupational Therapy team and wider IDT.
  • Lead quality projects, develop, and update policies in areas such as cognition, neurology, and pressure injury management.
  • Maintain a complex caseload to a high standard.
  • Communicate effectively with local and national key stakeholders.


Requirements:
  • New Zealand registered Occupational Therapist with a current annual practicing certificate.
  • Six (6) years post-graduate experience with at least 3-4 years in the area of specialty.
  • Proven clinical leadership within the area of speciality.
  • Ability to maintain a complex caseload to a high standard.
  • Experience in leading innovation and quality improvement, research, and audit contribution.
