**Overview of the Position**

This permanent, full-time position involves providing specialist expertise in clinical immunology and immunopathology to patients and referrers across Canterbury District Health Board. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in laboratory medicine and a passion for delivering high-quality patient care.

The successful candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to diagnose and manage complex cases, support the development of new laboratory services, and contribute to teaching and research initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with colleagues to develop and implement best practices in clinical immunology and immunopathology.
  • Providing expert advice on laboratory testing and clinical case interpretation.
  • Supporting the development of new laboratory services, including autoimmune serology, allergy, and immunodeficiency.
  • Teaching and mentoring medical and scientific staff.
  • Participating in quality assurance, clinical governance, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

To excel in this role, you will need:

  • Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (or equivalent).
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand, including vocational registration in the specialty.
  • Laboratory experience in immunology at a senior level.
  • A current Annual Practicing Certificate and medical indemnity insurance.
