About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated professional to join our team as a Collection Librarian at the University of Otago Library.
The successful candidate will play a vital role in curating and maintaining a diverse, accessible, and dynamic collection that supports the evolving needs of students and researchers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing access to print and digital resources to ensure seamless discovery and usability.
- Applying cataloguing and metadata expertise to enhance content accessibility.
- SUPPORTING INTERLIBRARY LOAN SERVICES AND DOCUMENT DELIVERY TO MEET ACADEMIC AND RESEARCH NEEDS.
- Collaborating with academic staff to develop reading lists and identify essential course resources.
- Contributing to the development of a balanced and inclusive collection that supports diverse perspectives and disciplines.
Requirements:
We are looking for a professional with a tertiary qualification (or equivalent experience) in library, heritage, or information management.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in library technical services, metadata management, and collection development, along with a strong understanding of bibliographic databases, print and electronic resources, and discovery interfaces.
Strong organisational skills are essential to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines, while excellent communication, relationship-building abilities, and a collaborative mindset will support effective teamwork and engagement.
Familiarity with Te Reo Maori in professional contexts is desirable.
