We are seeking a dynamic and diverse Occupational Therapist Support Worker to join our team at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Capital, Coast & Hutt Valley.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities and a strong background in community health support services.

About the Service
The Intellectual Disability Secure Service provides secure (inpatient) care and rehabilitation services for male and female adults and adolescents who have a diagnosed intellectual disability and have committed often serious offences.
The service is part of the broader Mental Health, Addictions and Intellectual Disability Service (MHAIDS), which spans the Wairarapa, Hutt Valley and Capital, Coast District and includes local, regional, and national services.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality support to clients with intellectual disabilities, including:

  • Providing practical skills training and support
  • Assisting with daily living tasks
  • Facilitating group activities and programs
  • Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams

Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of level 4 NZQA National Certificate in Community Health Support Services (or equivalent qualification)
  • Good written and oral English skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility and adaptability with excellent time management skills
  • The ability to work under direction and proactively carry out tasks independently in a culturally safe way
  • Demonstrated ability to work in stressful and changing situations
