Avionics Power Systems Specialist

At Rocket Lab USA, we're pushing the boundaries of space technology to enable rapid, affordable access to orbit. The Electrical Power Systems Engineer – Neutron Avionics Systems plays a crucial role in delivering this vision by designing and developing the Electrical Power System for our Neutron rocket.
This position requires a strong understanding of electrical systems, power electronics, communication protocols, signal integrity, and grounding. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to define system requirements, design and develop electrical systems, and conduct proof-of-concept testing.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing system requirements sets that combine technical intent with a flow-down of program requirements and key philosophies.
- Leading the execution and development of complex, mission-critical electrical systems.
- Conducting development and critical design reviews of specialist electrical equipment.
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related discipline.
- 1+ years of relevant industry experience in power systems design, electrical system design, hardware development, or electronics test engineering.
- Proficient in electronics principles and electrical systems.
- Professional experience in a fast-paced engineering environment.
Nice to have qualifications include:
- 1+ years' experience with programming languages, scripting tools, and automation.
- Experience with CAD software packages.
- Proficient with instrumentation, interfaces and sensors.
- Experience with design and testing of batteries.
