Role Overview

Rocket Lab is a leading innovator in space systems, aiming to unlock the potential of space to improve life on Earth. We're seeking an experienced Space Systems Avionics Lead to join our dynamic engineering team.

This role offers a unique opportunity to lead the strategic planning, design, development, testing, and implementation of advanced avionics systems. You will leverage your technical expertise and leadership acumen to guide a multidisciplinary team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Technical Leadership: Develop and maintain project schedules and deliverables, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Aircraft Design: Oversee the design of electronic boards, performing design analyses and validations.
  • Problem Solving: Manage technical risks using assessments of probability and consequence, and lead root-cause analysis into anomalies and failures in avionics components.
  • Team Management: Mentor and manage a multidisciplinary team, providing support to ensure motivation, effectiveness, and efficiency.
Requirements:
  • Technical Expertise: Hands-on engineering and technical leadership experience in developing avionics hardware and providing subject matter expertise throughout the full lifecycle of components.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to manage technical risks, drive problem-solving, and lead teams to achieve complex objectives.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics.
