Our team is passionate about providing culturally safe and responsive services that prioritize tikanga and kawa o Tainui.

The Role at Te Whakawhitinga
As a Takawaenga at Te Whakawhitinga, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary team that fosters a culture of mutual respect, safe practice, and acknowledges contributions from both cultural and clinical perspectives. You will work collaboratively with our team to identify and support access to community resources and services, promoting mauri ora for Māori individuals and whānau.
Your Skills and Experience
- Strong knowledge of Te Reo Māori, Tikanga and Kawa o Tainui
- Strong advocacy and facilitation skills utilising Tikanga Māori
- Ability to interpret for whānau Māori and support whānau Māori to communicate to wider team
- Willingness to role model 'Tikanga Best Practice'
- Able to provide education to clinicians on Te Ao Māori and best practice for Māori
- Whānau centred, collaborative and partnership approach
- Experience working in a mental health, community health or primary care setting
- Experience working with Māori and Pasifika groups
- Ability to take a proactive role with other organizations to achieve sustainable outcomes for tāngata whaiora
