Therapy Animal Programme Coordinator

Hato Hone St John is dedicated to serving New Zealanders and enhancing lives. Our programmes, including animal-assisted therapy, aim to promote emotional wellbeing and provide comfort to those in need.
This role involves supporting a team of volunteers and their pets as they visit local rest homes, hospitals, and schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for mentoring the team, recruiting new volunteers, and coordinating matches between volunteers and facilities.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, an empathetic personality, and a genuine interest in the well-being of others. Previous team management experience and a love of animals are also essential.
Key Responsibilities:- Mentor and support a team of volunteers
- Recruit new volunteers and match them with suitable facilities
- Liaise with facilities visited by volunteers
- Coordinate recognition events and team connections
This is an unpaid voluntary position, requiring at least 2-3 hours of commitment per week. You may choose to join the Therapy Pet volunteers with your pet, but this is not mandatory.
