About the Role
The Auckland Ophthalmology Non-Training Registrar Programme is a 12-month post that offers hands-on exposure to various eye conditions in an acute setting.
As part of the Acute Eye Service at Greenlane Clinical Centre, you will work under the supervision of senior consultants, fellows, or on-call registrars to aid in the day-to-day running of the service.
This role provides opportunities for clinical experience and skill development, aligning with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists' (RANZCO) Basic Clinical Competencies and Knowledge (OBCK) Curriculum Standards.
You will have the chance to obtain formal accreditation in independent intravitreal injection and intraocular laser procedures, as well as gain experience in pre-admit clinics and on the ophthalmology ward (Totara Ward).
This programme serves as an ideal stepping stone for applying to ophthalmology training registrar positions, meeting RANZCO scoring criteria.
Eligibility Criteria
- Strong interest in ophthalmology
- Experience in an ophthalmology house officer run environment
- Completed two House Officer Years prior to the start of the training year
- Eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
Auckland offers a diverse population, world-class doctors, and a wide range of patient presentations, making it an ideal location for gaining valuable experience.
We encourage applications from candidates who share our values and would greatly value seeing applicants from our Māori and Pacific communities.
