Job Description

As a Mental Health Support Specialist, you will report to the Team Coach and provide cover for permanent Support Workers. The hours of work are not regular and are offered when they become available. You will have the opportunity to work 24/7 or 7:00am-3:30pm/2.00pm-10.30pm, Monday-Sunday based in Waihi.

Main Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Supporting people to connect back with their community.
  • Assisting with cooking, cleaning, gardening, and everyday household tasks.
  • Supporting with budgeting and independent daily living.
  • Providing medication support where required.
  • Attending appointments and advocating for the people we support.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A current full New Zealand driver's licence.
  • A current New Zealand first aid certificate (or be prepared to obtain one).
  • Hold either the Level 4 New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (or a recognised equivalent) or be willing to commence study towards this qualification within six months of starting with us.
  • Experience in working with young people and an understanding of trauma-informed care.
  • The ability to be flexible and available for varying shifts.
