About This Position

In this role, you'll be responsible for leading the development of business cases, project development, and policy development to enhance our transportation network. You'll work collaboratively with our teams to identify opportunities for improvement and develop effective solutions.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Confirming strategic purpose, developing concepts, optioneering, and evaluation to identify recommended programs of work
  • Developing and promoting sound solutions to transportation issues, enhancing safety and health, sustainability, resilience, access, and economic prosperity
  • Taking a whole-of-network system design-led approach to plan across modes, functions, place, and time while considering whole-life costs, safety, and maintenance in design, and benefit realization
  • Undertaking economic assessment of transport investment decisions

About You

To succeed in this role, you'll need to possess a strong background in transport planning, excellent communication and collaboration skills, and a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.

You should also have:

  • Bachelor of Engineering Civil or NZ Diploma in Engineering Civil
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience in civil engineering works, preferably in transport planning
  • Experience with project identification and development, optioneering, and evaluation, developing business cases, activity, and asset management plans, New Zealand Transport Agency policies and procedures, and presenting to councils, boards, or decision-making groups
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships
  • High attention to detail, excellent time management, and a solution-focused approach
  • A full, clean current driver's license
