At Spca Auckland, we are passionate about promoting animal welfare and preventing cruelty. Our animal attendant role is a critical part of our efforts to make a difference in the lives of animals in need.

As an animal attendant, you will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring Animal Welfare: Providing exceptional care to our animals, including meeting their physical and emotional needs, and ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • SUPPORTING ADOPTIONS: Working closely with volunteers, community groups, and other stakeholders to maximize adoptions for as many animals as possible.
  • Managing Animal Data: Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of our animal database, which is essential for effective management and decision-making.

You will also assist with routine veterinary visits, coordinate animal pathways, deal with adoption enquiries, monitor animal health, and work collaboratively with other departments to achieve our goals.

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • Animal Handling and Behaviour Knowledge: Demonstrated experience in animal handling, behaviour, and basic care.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups and individuals.
  • Time Management and Prioritization Skills: Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
