About the OpportunityWe are seeking an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Southern District Health Board, working as part of our dynamic Child and Youth Specialty Service in Dunedin. As a key member of our multi-disciplinary team, you will play a crucial role in providing clinical leadership and medical input to support the delivery of specialist mental health services to 14-18 year olds.
This exciting opportunity is perfect for an individual who is committed to excellence in practice, has strong communication skills, and is able to work collaboratively with primary health sector partners, education providers, and other stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people.
Your Key Responsibilities- Providing expert clinical leadership and medical input to support the delivery of specialist mental health services to young people
- Collaborating with primary health sector partners, education providers, and other stakeholders to develop and implement effective care plans
- Assessing and treating young people with complex mental health needs, including those with sub-specialty areas such as maternal and infant mental health, early psychosis service, and addictions
- Supporting the development and implementation of policies and procedures that promote best practice in child and youth mental health care
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
- A Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) or equivalent
- Eligibility for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
- A sound understanding and commitment to biculturalism, te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori
- Experience in projects/initiatives that give effect to Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches in healthcare settings

What We Offer- A competitive salary range of $185,380 to $267,980 per annum pro rata
