About the Role

In this role, you will be supporting a young man, Hudson, who lives by himself at Kereru Service. Kereru Service is a residential home based in Hoon Hay and is a short drive from the main Hohepa Campus. Hudson is looking for an experienced Support Worker to work alongside him, someone who has experience and a passion for working with youth or young adults that have challenging behaviours. Daily tasks include supporting with daily routines while encouraging independence to develop skills and personal growth.

Your Responsibilities

  • SUPPORTING HIGHLIGHTECTS OF THE ROLE:
  • Supporting a young man with daily routines, encouraging independence and personal growth;
  • Working closely with colleagues to create a great team environment;
  • Applying boundaries or offering space when needed;
  • Encouraging participation in activities such as swimming and bike rides;
  • Attending car shows and promoting social connections within the community;
  • Providing hands-on support with personal care, cooking, medication administration, and household tasks;

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Support Worker or similar role;
  • Demonstrated ability to work in partnership with individuals with complex needs;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Able to read situations, problem-solve, and apply boundaries or offer space when needed;
  • High level of initiative and flexibility;
  • Passion for helping others and making a real difference in people's lives;
  • Commitment to upholding the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in all aspects of the role;
  • NZ full driver's licence and ability to work in New Zealand;
