About This Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Manager to join our Automotive and Industrial team. As a key member of our engineering organization, you will be responsible for defining and executing an engineering roadmap for the automotive team at Canonical.

The ideal candidate will have a strong software engineering background, knowledge of automotive and industry standards, and experience in leading product development initiatives. You will work closely with our Product Management team to refine the vision and strategy for automotive at Canonical.

This role requires in-depth knowledge of Linux packages and embedded development, experience in C/C++ and Python programming, and practical experience in automotive, including functional safety, embedded systems, cloud, and related software trends.

This is a globally remote role that requires international travel twice a year for company events. You will report directly to our Vice President of Engineering Excellence and work closely with the Automotive Product Manager to define and execute a vision and roadmap for automotive at Canonical.

Responsibilities
  1. Work from home with international travel twice a year for company events
  2. Develop skills through coaching, feedback, and hands-on technical leadership
  3. Set and manage expectations with other engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholders
