About the Role
As a Clinical Intake Coordinator, you will provide crucial support to the clinical staff of the Genetic Health Service New Zealand (GHSNZ) Central Hub. This role involves reviewing referrals received by the service, gathering information to support clinical assessment and triage through interactions with patients/health care providers. Compassionate communication is essential when discussing sensitive family history information and when talking to individuals who are in distress.

About the Team/Service
The Genetic Health Service New Zealand works with individuals and families who have, or are at risk of developing, an inherited health condition. As part of our Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley Te Whatu Ora Genetic Service, you will work within a team of 3 clinic administrators and a clinical team consisting of consultant clinical geneticists and genetic counsellors. We also work closely with the Wellington Regional Genetic Laboratory staff who are co-located. Our team fosters a supportive and positive work environment, encouraging collaboration and open communication.

About You
We are seeking someone who is versatile and will enjoy working in a unique role within the service. To be successful in this position, you should possess excellent communication and organisational skills, with confidence in using a range of databases. A commitment to diversity and cultural safety is also essential. Experience in the healthcare sector would be an advantage, but we encourage applicants from various backgrounds, including genetics, psychology, nursing, and social work.
