Job Overview
Auckland Council is seeking a Water Safety Professional to join our team as a Lifeguard in our Leisure Centres network. As a Lifeguard, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of pool users and providing cover for planned leave and training sessions for our regular employees.

About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment and develop your skills in water safety and customer service. You will have the chance to work across multiple Leisure Centres, including South Auckland, Howick, Pakuranga, Mangere, and Otara, and enjoy a variable schedule that allows you to work across different sites. We are looking for individuals who are strong swimmers, dedicated to helping others, and possess excellent maturity and reliability.

Responsibilities
Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Providing a safe environment through proactive supervision and positive interaction with customers.
  • Educating and enforcing pool rules.
  • Responding to any First Aid emergencies.
  • Ensuring our pool and the surrounding areas are always clean.

Qualifications and Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a strong swimming ability and meet the following requirements:
  1. Swim 200m freestyle in less than 6 minutes.
  2. Swim 50m breaststroke.
  3. Swim 25m side stroke.
  4. Demonstrate the ability to duck, dive, and retrieve objects from the bottom of a 5m pool.
  5. Tread water for 5 minutes.
