Job Description

A unique opportunity has arisen for a skilled Mātauranga Māori Specialist to join our team. As a strategic advisor, you will play a key role in building relationships with Māori communities and experts to develop and implement mātauranga Māori strategies.

About the Role

This is a 12-month fixed-term, full-time position that requires a high level of analytical and communication skills. You will work closely with our team to develop critical frameworks and methodologies that give effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Māori health equity.

Key Responsibilities
  • BUILD SUSTAINABLE RELATIONSHIPS WITH MĀORI COMMUNITIES AND EXPERTS
  • DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT MĀTAURANGA MĀORI STRATEGIES
  • ANALYSE INFORMATION AND DEVELOP ADVICE ON MĀTAURANGA MĀORI MATTERS
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 2-5 years of experience in matauranga Māori advisory roles or equivalent to te reo Māori me ōna Tikanga specialist experience commissioning research and or evaluation projects
  • An excellent grasp of te reo Māori and deeply connected with te ao Māori and implementing matauranga Māori in the workplace and education settings
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi provisions in action as well as providing implementation advice and team development
