Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Counsellor/Supervisor to join our team in Te Kaupeka Oranga | Faculty of Health. The successful candidate will be at the forefront of supporting students to develop their counselling knowledge and practical competencies, contributing to the supervision, teaching and assessment of counselling practice.

The role involves liaising with counselling providers in the community, carrying out and assessing live supervision, supporting student placements and contributing to community aspects of programme development.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have a Masters Degree in Counselling and be a member (preferably full) of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC).

You will also have at least 5 years post-qualification counselling experience, including:

  • Minimum qualification Master of Counselling degree
  • Full member of New Zealand Association of Counsellors/ Te Roopu Kaiwhiriwhiri o Aotearoa (NZAC)
  • Expertise in applying the Solution-focused brief therapy model
  • Experience in and knowledge of supervision practices
  • Active commitment to upholding the values, tikanga (protocols and processes), kawa (rules) of cultural practice and traditions as guided by mana whenua, Ngai Tuahuriri, and valuing Te reo Maori
  • Experience in teaching and supervising students in counselling education
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, equity and social justice
  • Knowledge of counselling codes of ethics and legal frameworks in Aotearoa, including issues of confidentiality and privacy
