Job Description:
The Trainee Meteorologist Programme is designed for individuals who are passionate about pursuing a career in meteorology. As a trainee, you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced meteorologists in our national forecasting centre, gaining hands-on experience in forecasting practice and developing your skills in meteorological theory. You will also complete a Master of Meteorology degree through Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington, studying under the guidance of academic staff and subject matter experts from MetService.

Key Responsibilities:
- Work cooperatively as part of a team to forecast weather conditions
- Develop and apply scientific knowledge of the atmosphere to predict weather events
- Collaborate with experienced meteorologists to provide accurate and reliable forecasts
- Complete coursework and practicums as part of the Master of Meteorology degree

Required Skills and Qualifications:
To be eligible for this programme, you must have achieved a Bachelor, Honours or Master of Science degree in mathematics or physics. A strong university maths/physics background is essential for success in this role. Additionally, you should possess excellent communication and teamwork skills, as well as the ability to think critically and solve complex problems.
