Job Overview

The University of Canterbury's Research and Innovation department is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Contracts Advisor to join our dynamic team. As a key member of the team, you will play a critical part in facilitating and supporting research and innovation from initial funding through to commercialisation.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice, guidance, and support in the establishment, management, and oversight of research and consultancy contracts.
  • Work collaboratively with academic staff, internal teams, and external organisations and funders to ensure the smooth administration and management of contracts and financial reporting processes.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to achieve contract goals and objectives.
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant laws, regulations, and policies related to research contracts.

About You

  • You have experience in a senior administrative role, providing guidance on policies, procedural guidelines, contracting, and risk management.
  • You possess knowledge of budget formulation, basic accounting practices, and financial reporting.
  • You have a high level of accuracy and attention to detail when managing multiple contracts with varied terms and conditions.
  • You possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions.
  • You have strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with internal teams and external partners effectively.
  • You are experienced in using databases to manage contracts and related documentation efficiently.
