We are seeking a dedicated Disability Care Coordinator to join our team at Homes. As a Disability Care Coordinator, you will be part of a team providing residential care and supporting individuals with disabilities to live the lives they choose.

The Role

As a Disability Care Coordinator, you will support an individual who thrives in a structured environment. This role involves helping them build independence through community engagement, job searching, and daily living activities.

To excel in this role, you will need a compassionate and empathetic approach, strong communication skills, and the ability to establish and maintain boundaries.

This is a part-time position offering 21 hours per fortnight on a rostered basis, including weekend shifts every other week from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, along with three weekday afternoon shifts from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

About You

Having experience working with individuals with disabilities and challenging behaviors is essential. Knowledge of sign language or a willingness to learn it will be beneficial in meeting the specific needs of this service.

Your ability to think creatively and solve problems will be invaluable in this role. You must be able to follow established routines with minimal disruption, while being quick-thinking, resilient, and adaptable.

Key Responsibilities

Residential Support - Provide one-on-one support to individuals with disabilities in a residential setting.

Community Engagement - Support individuals to participate in community activities and develop their social skills.

Daily Living Activities - Assist individuals with daily living tasks, such as meal preparation and personal care.

Skill Development - Help individuals develop new skills and interests, such as employment and education.

  • Experience working with individuals with challenging behaviour
  • Willingness to learn NZSL
  • Full NZ Driver's license
  • Legal right to work in New Zealand
  • Certificate in Health and Wellbeing, Level 3 and above
  • Must be willing to undergo criminal and Oranga Tamariki checks
  • Valid first aid certificate
