Role Overview

The Waitemata District Health Board is seeking a dedicated and skilled Child Psychiatrist to join their Infant, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service team.

This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to work with a passionate Child & Adolescent team who places great value on putting people first, embedding Te Ao Maori in everyday practice, leading with kindness, and achieving excellence together.

The role can be based in Rotorua or Taupo and clinics are offered at both sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • To provide a broad range of general psychiatric skills and support for patients aged 0-18 years.
  • To hold or be eligible for Vocational Registration as a Child Psychiatrist with the Medical Council of NZ.
  • To enjoy teaching – Rotorua is a teaching hospital with 4th, 5th, and 6th-year medical students as well as registrars training for fellowship with the RANZCP.

Requirements

  • A strong understanding of child psychiatry principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work effectively in a busy environment.
