Schedule and Compensation
This is a permanent, full-time position (40 hours per week) with a competitive salary of $65,961 per annum. The work schedule includes rotating roster shifts, including one weekend day or every second weekend, and possible public holiday shifts.
Responsibilities
The Animal Shelter Officer will be responsible for:
* Managing office-based tasks, such as processing paperwork, handling customer inquiries, and facilitating adoptions
* Reuniting lost dogs with their owners by following shelter procedures and using various methods to track down dog owners
* Fostering strong relationships with internal team members, external partners, and the public
* Ensuring compliance with regulations, managing necessary paperwork, and maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for both animals and staff
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you will need:
* Strong administrative and customer service skills, with experience handling inquiries and providing support via phone, email, and in person
* A compassionate, resilient attitude toward both animals and customers
* The ability to problem-solve quickly and think on your feet
* A proactive mindset, willing to take initiative and contribute ideas to improve processes and enhance team success
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact clearly and empathetically with people from all walks of life
