Animal Care Specialist

About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as an Animal Shelter Officer. This role is essential in ensuring the well-being of all dogs in our shelter.
Main Responsibilities
- Ensure all animals receive proper care, including feeding, exercise, and enrichment activities.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for all shelter staff and animals.
- Reunite lost dogs with their owners and work with dogs that may have behavioural challenges.
- Ability to assist the vet with various tasks including euthanasia.
- Build and maintain exceptional relationships with both internal and external customers.
- Follow up on the requirements imposed by the Dog Control Act 1996.
- Complete office tasks such as processing paperwork, facilitating adoptions and educational initiatives.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- Ability to work one weekend day and public holidays as required.
- Physical stamina to handle the demands of the job.
- Previous experience in animal handling or husbandry is preferred. An animal care or dog behaviour qualification is advantageous but not mandatory.
