We're looking for a highly skilled Database Reliability Engineer to join our Infrastructure team at Wētā FX. The ideal candidate will have experience in data engineering, big data, and database administration, as well as excellent problem-solving skills and strong verbal and written communication abilities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing strategies to improve the reliability and efficiency of our data infrastructure.
- Collaborating with developers to ensure seamless integration of data systems.
- Providing expert-level guidance on database administration best practices.
- Participating in the development of platform architecture and strategy.
- Fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the team.
Nice to have:
- Experience with RDBMS administration, including MariaDB, MySQL, and PostgreSQL, with exposure to large datasets in HA environments.
- Familiarity with Elasticsearch, Kafka, or similar adjunct data systems.
- Infrastructure automation using Puppet, Ansible, Terraform, or similar orchestration tools.
- Proficiency in a common scripting language, such as Python, Ruby, Go, or NodeJS.
