**About the Role**
We are seeking a skilled Youth Support Specialist to join our team at Drake New Zealand. The ideal candidate will provide care and support to young people in residential/educational programs through pastoral care and teaching of independent living skills.
Main Responsibilities:
- Working with young people affected by different types of vision concerns to teach independent living skills
- Creating engaging activities for the weekends to complement the teaching and learning taking place throughout the week
- Building trusting relationships with the young people and guiding them through new challenges
- Responsible for the day-to-day function of the hostel during weekend hours
About You:
- An understanding of the importance of strong relationships with young people in the centre while being able to manage professional boundaries effectively
- An understanding of and commitment to adhering to the Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- A high level of energy, enthusiasm, reliability, physical fitness, and maturity
