We are seeking a Wildlife Protection Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for working closely with colleagues across various workstreams, including community outreach and engagement, logistics, and statutory activities.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the protection and conservation of our wildlife. The successful candidate will be required to:
- Collaborate with all workstreams of the Marine District to ensure essential planning, delivery, and reviews are completed.
- Manage compliance cases, plan and track vessel maintenance, and staff training.
- Monitor legislative requirements for operating commercial vessels.
- Advising the Senior Ranger & Operations Manager regarding concessions & permit applications.
- Monitoring and reporting of existing permissions.
About You
- You have excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- You possess strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of individuals and teams.
- You have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience in report writing.
- You have outstanding time management skills, including the ability to prioritize and maintain a high level of accuracy while working towards fixed deadlines.
- You have a broad understanding of conservation legislation and management and how it contributes to New Zealand's future sustainability.
- You have a well-developed sense of cultural awareness, particularly in Te Ao Māori.
- You are flexible and able to adapt to changing needs.
