Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Monitoring Officer to join our team. This critical role ensures effective monitoring, compliance, and enforcement of resource consents, achieving positive environmental outcomes for Auckland.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor active resource consents and ensure compliance with agreed processes.
  • Provide feedback for continuous improvement of monitoring services.
  • Contribute to business improvements and targeted initiatives to reduce environmental risks.
  • Develop and manage enforcement plans for non-compliance cases.
  • Conduct mediation and provide guidance to consent holders for achieving compliance.
  • Support the wider team with mentoring and fostering a positive collaborative culture.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field (Risk/Compliance Management, Environmental Science, Law, etc.).
  • 2+ years of experience in environmental compliance or planning.
  • Local Government experience preferred, particularly in a regulatory environment.
  • A current, valid New Zealand driver's license.
  • Eligible to hold a warrant under the Resource Management Act 1991 and Local Government Act 2002.
