Operating for 16 years, DiggersNZ Ltd have built strong relationships within the civil construction industry. Specializing in foundation excavations, retaining wall construction, demolition and civil construction; the business prides themselves on their excellent customer service, positive company culture and ability to deliver practical construction solutions to a range of valued clients.An exciting opportunity has arisen for a QS to join our Christchurch based pricing team. Reporting directly to the Senior QS you will complete pricing and contracts administration duties for current and future projects. This will include understanding construction plans/ topographical information and building schedules for quotations. We are looking for a skilled candidate that has a strong attention to detail and can understand civil construction and earthworks methodology with ease. This is a great opportunity for a candidate who is keen to further their QS career in civil construction.The RoleTo be successful in this role you must be/have:Proven experience in a QS role pricing civil construction worksA relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying/ Estimating or a construction related field (preferred, but not essential to be considered if have proven experience)A good understanding of residential, commercial and civil construction works and is capable of hitting the ground runningMathematically minded and able to think quicklyA keen learner, ready to absorb knowledge from our Senior QS and management teamA strong attention to detail with the ability to review comprehensive job information and apply to relevant quotations.Tech savvy, being able to confidently use a range of different pricing and job costing software.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite - all quoting schedules are constructed through ExcelAbility to complete duties accurately and efficientlyAbility to work both within a team and unsupervisedPractical and pragmatic with a solution-based approachAbility to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environmentHighly personable & capable of building strong relationships across the businessThe day-to-day tasks and responsibilities will include:Understanding and following construction plans, job, design and geotech information to assist with building quotationsData entry – review topographical information and enter values into pricing softwareCompleting site visits to determine allowances and scope for quotationsBuilding schedules in Excel for quotationsLiaising with internal and external parties to determine job specifics for quotations/ tenders (such as subcontractors, project managers, clients)Tracking variation informationReporting directly to the Senior QS on progress and status of quotesAssisting the Senior QS in processing monthly progress claims for invoicingUtilize existing software and systems to track and report on quotesYou will be joining an established, collaborative and supportive team that will actively encourage the development of your QS career in the civil construction industry.
