Consultant Psychiatrist, Infant, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service Full or Part-time Ngā huanga o tēnei mahi / The benefits of this position We are rebuilding our team and have two vacancies available to join a passionate Child & Adolescent team who places great value on putting people first, embedding Te Ao Māori in every-day practice, leading with kindness and achieving excellence together.
As in most areas, we have seen an increase in complexity in this specialty area and take great pride in the exceptional care offered by the Lakes team serving the Tamariki (children), Rangatahi (Young People) and their whānau and families.
The role can be based in Rotorua or Taupō and clinics are offered at both sites.
We are embedding our new model of care Te Ara Tauwhirotanga: pathways that lead us to act with kindness.
Te Ara Tauwhirotanga is the product of extensive co-design with over 400 participants from the Lakes community, a model that clearly articulates what works for people in their recovery and healing journey.
You can read more here: https://www.lakesdhb.govt.nz/our-services/mental-health/te-ara-tauwhirotanga/ The successful candidate will have: A broad range of general psychiatric skills Hold or be eligible for Vocational Registration as a Child Psychiatrist with Medical Council of NZ Enjoy teaching – Rotorua is a teaching hospital with 4th, 5th and 6th year medical students as well as registrars training for fellowship with the RANZCP The role: Busy role with a broad variety of Child & Adolescent psychiatry 1:6 on call roster Ko wai mātou / Who we are The Lakes District serves a population of just over 118,000 and covers 9,570 square kilometres.
It stretches from Mourea in the north to Mangakino in the west, down to Turangi in the south and across to Kaingaroa village in the east.
The major centres of population are Rotorua and Taupō where two hospitals are based.
The DHB's boundaries take in the two main iwi groups of Te Arawa and Ngāti Tūwharetoa.
