The Office of the Pou Whakatere provides strategic advice to decision-makers on group challenges and opportunities through influence and connection across Atea a Rangi – Strategy and other Ministry business groups.The Principal Advisor plays a key leadership, analytical and advisory role in the Office, supporting the Director through day-to-day tasking of team members, and the development and maintenance of supporting systems and processes for the Office.
This is a chance to use your advisory experience, trouble-shooting skills and machinery of government knowledge to contribute to improving justice outcomes for New Zealanders.
O pukenga | Skills and ExperienceTo be successful in these roles, you will have demonstrated senior advisory experience in large and complex organisations, including:Advising executive leaders and their teams to enable effective decision-making.Working as a strategic influencer across organisational business groups with varying unit goals but shared organisational goals.Comfort with ambiguity, a proactive working style, and experience operating in environments with limited direction.Experience in supporting a Minister's office and a senior executive's office, or equivalent experience supporting a strategic governance board.Communicating with a wide range of audiences on a range of complex issues.Leading and coaching advisory and administrative staff for successFamiliarity working within te ao Maori and understanding of te reo, tikanga, kawa and matauranga Maori.
