About the role
Every day is different. As a valued member of the Hauora Maori team, you become part of the Multi Disciplinary Team, Doctors, Nurses and Allied Health professionals just to name a few. We work together to reach the best outcome for the turoro and whanau.
This role's primary responsibility is to assist turoro (patients) through the hospital system and make the journey as smooth as possible. Be present, with turoro permission, at appointments or bedside consultations to be a set of ears for the turoro or whanau. Put in place where and when required and with turoro permission, community supports.

About You
In this role, you will be
responsible for:
To assist in developing
an environment of opportunity and choice for turoro and whanau consistent with
Te Tiriti o Waitangi
Provide guidance,
support, and facilitation to Maori patients to deliver a quality bi-cultural
service
Record and complete in a
timely manner, patient interactions in clinical records to agreed standards to
aid treatment planning
Provide Health
information/education to Maori patients and whanau to enhance recovery and
support positive changes in behaviours
Build and maintain
collaborative relationships for benefit of Maori patients and whanau

Your skills will include:
Intermediate computer
skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills
Highly motivated and
able to multitask
Work with a wide range
of people and organisation
An understanding and
knowledge of Te Reo and Tikanga Maori
Demonstrate a high level
of personal discipline and professionalism
Substantial experience in Maori health or social sectors, and
community development
Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings
